The activity concerned the design and commissioning of a test bench for Non Residential Ventilation Units (NRVU) in compliance with the following EU directives and regulations:
- Directive 2009/125/EC
- Ecodesign criteria for energy-using products (boilers, pumps, ventilation units, ...)
- Regulation (EU) No 1253/2014
- implements the eco-design of Directive 2009/125/EC for non-residential ventilation units (NRVU)
The introduction of the Directive and the Regulation envisages two implementation steps:
- Step 1: from 01.01.2016
- Step 2: from 01.01.2018 (more stringent requirements).
The activity, carried out as part of the "Qualified Services" project under the POR CREO FESR 2014-2020 Action 1.1.2, substantially involved three operating phases:
Made according to the specifications of the reference configuration of the units to be tested:
- UVU(Unidirectional Ventilation Unit)
- BVU(Bidirectional Ventilation Unit)

On the basis of the design specifications and the above scheme, a test bench was built at CTG srl, equipped with the following instrumentation, which was likewise defined in the design stage:
- Flow rate measurements:
Thermal mass metering device
- Temperature measurements:
2 thermoresistance probes per point
- Pressure Measurements:
at the ends of the UVNR with pneumatic differential transducers

A SW for data acquisition and control was developed, then the inspection and testing at CTG srl. were carried out. The activity was done in two steps:
- Development of SW for the control and management of the test bench
- Inspection and preliminary tests of the bench
